Wed., Nov. 11: Albany's Veterans Day Parade

The Benton County Republicans are participating in the Veterans Day Parade for 2009. Come join us and ride or walk with the float. Republican candidates will walk with us and the Benton County Republican Women are providing thousands of patriotic buttons to pass out to parade goers along the route. 2009 Parade Theme: "Generations of Valor" - With around 200 entries, and as many as 40,000 spectators, Albany hosts the largest Veterans Day parade west of the Mississippi. it is organized and run every year by the volunteer efforts of the Veterans Commemoration Association. The parade features veterans from wars past and present, marching units, military vehicles, and marching bands.

  • Time: Parade starts at 11:00 a.m.
  • Parade Route: The parade starts at the overpass on Pacific Highway, then right on Lyons, left on 2nd to Ferry St., left to 4th, ending at the Linn County courthouse at 300 3rd Ave. SW.
We are float #142. We will be decorating the float in the lineup so look for the float on 13th Street west of the police department (1117 Jackson St SE). That’s the area where we’ve usually parked. It will be difficult to pick up riders after the parade starts.
